We at Carriglea N.S. strive to be a healthy educated happy school community. We had a poster slogan competition and Holly came up with the slogan “ACTIVE IS COOL WHEN YOU DO IT IN SCHOOL”.
We  are very busy ensuring all our equipment in up to date and neatly stored away for the next day. We have a WELL DONE WALL where we put pictures of all the boys and girls who have participated in local and national competitions. If we have done really well our teachers will give you a physical reward so you get extra play time at school.
We are active at break times in wet and dry days. Go noodle and busy break keep us busy on rainy wet days when we can`t go out and on all other days we have great fun outside playing with our friends.
Our P.E. days are Tuesday and Friday.  On Tuesdays our Active Schools Committee get us moving with our Twenty on Tuesday. This is great fun as we do 20 of each exercise. Our brains are really turned on when we get back to class.
Each month we have a different focus so its great fun as we get to try lots of different types of sports from soccer, hurling, football ,dance ,cycling, orienteering etc. Our P.E. plan is two year so you get to do different sports each year.
All our teachers are learning about orienteering this year so we look forward to great adventures around our school and local area.Mr .O`Halloran and Pat are great as they give us after school coaching on Wednesdays. We even get to play friendly matches with neighbouring schools

At each special celebration Halloween,Christmas,St.Patricks`s Day, Easter  and Summer we incorporate a physical activity into our school assembly.
Halloween- Skeleton Dance
Christmas – Active Advent Calendar
St.Patrick`s Day – Ceili Mor
Easter -Easter Egg Orienteering Hunt
Summer- Summer Sports Day
